Weekly (Wish)Lists #29: Organizing Tools

Every Wednesday I share a list of 5 random things – this week, the 5 organizing tools I would love to own – if they didn’t have the price tag that they did!
Now this may or may not have come up – did you see my desk tour? – but I love organizing things! Like, seriously, if I could (and if I had the time, of course) I’d have my room and dorm better organized than a professionally-done show room.
Owkay, so I’m not good at comparisons, but you get the picture.

Now, of course, there’s a bunch of organizing tools out there, and although I have some of them (though, let’s face it, not even anywhere near the amount I’d like to) there’s always more to be had – and dreaming never hurt anybody, did it now?
And because my spring term is now fully back on, that list of things-I-wish-I-owned has gotten quite a bit bigger, again 🙂
So here you have it: the top 5 organizing tools I would love to own – and probably already would, if it weren’t for the price tag!

1. Label Maker

Now, of course, this would be on the first place – so many bloggers I follow love these things, and I have to admit: a part of me has wanted one since I was a little girl (I mean, I wanted to be a secretary when I was younger, of course I wanted this), but it’s only this past year that I’ve really been thinking about it more seriously. Partially because Just A Girl and Her Blog seems to be doing such great things with it, partially because I’m starting to get to the point where I actually have enough stuff that I might need to have a label maker!

Just in case I should ever decide to take the plunge, I’ve already added this label maker
to my wishlist on Amazon: it’s compact, you can get creative with fonts and such, because you can plug it into your laptop, and I seem to hear nothing but positive feedback on this one (especially Overstuffed in her post on her 7 Must Have Organizing Tools!)

2. All the closets

As I’ve said before, I’m starting to get to the point where I have enough stuff that I might just need to getting some of the things on this list, just to be able to keep track of it all. In that case, I would especially love to buy all of the drawers, specifically the Ikea ones – why? Because they’re pretty cheap, pretty sturdy, and you can customise them to look like you want to, without immediately feeling like you’re throwing away the money you spent on a certain design or brand.

I especially like the way Fleur de Force customised this Ikea Alex drawer (and even though there’s a big chance that I would fail miserably, I’m seriously considering doing this as soon as I get something I can try this on):

3. Food storage

Now, if you read my review of 5 Sistema products, you probably already know this, but here it is again: I love food storage thingies. And as I also have certain hoarder-tendencies, that means that a) I basically bought 2 of every Sistema product and considered that a victory and b) I always want more of these particular kinds of organizational tools.
For example, these plastic food storage boxes
look like something out of my dreams (storage and cute!)

And the way Just a Girl and Her Blog organizes her pantry is goals:

But imma have to be serious here: what I want most as far as food storage goes?
An actual kitchen…
Right now I have all my kitchen-related items stuffed in a closet that’s probably not even a third as large as the pantry above, and my closet holds everything – food, appliances, cutlery, … You name it, it’s in (or on, or under or hanging halfway out of) that closet!

4. Office appliances

Yes, I am aware that these categories are getting broader with each point, but what can I say – if I didn’t do it this way, I’d need at least 4 posts per category!
(That’s, of course, not to say, I won’t be doing that anyways, but you’ve got to start somewhere, you know!)
I have to put a huge disclaimer here, first, stating that my ultimate office-goal is basically a room that already exists, namely the office created by (yet again) Just a Girl and Her Blog:

Seriously, this blogger has so many amazing posts on organization, I’ve actually found myself spending an accidental hour or 2 longer on her blog than I had intended! I’d especially advise you to check out her post on her Home Office Makeover, as well as the one on her Office Nook. I seriously want both of those rooms, like yesterday.
Until then, however, I guess I’ll just have to contend myself by looking up some of the stuff I could use to somewhat-inspired recreate it, such as all the baskets, and this amazing 4 Tier Bookcase
:

5. Planner

Now, I’ve already written a post on all the planners I would like to have, as well as one on how I made and organized my own planner, not to mention a whole series on how to survive (and stay organized in) college, and there’s a very simple reason for that: if I don’t write it down, it doesn’t happen. Whether it be to buy something, study something, write something or clean something, I need to have it on actually-written-by-pen-paper.

So really, when it comes down to it, I guess I can live with all those other things – for now.
My number one organizational tool is and always has been my planner – as a result, it now holds basically my whole life – so if I had to choose for any one thing on this wishlist, I know I’d have to choose that one…
(Even if that pantry and those shelves are so pretty!)

Anyways, there you have it: 5-ish of my favourite organizational tools I really wish I had. How about you, do you also dream away at all the organization-tips and -tools on Pinterest? Would you like to try any of these? Be sure to let me know below!
