Recipes #3: Favourite Apple Crumble Inspiration

So, I love food and cooking – and I especially love anything that’s sweet, ideal as a snack, and yet somehow still pretty healthy.

And here’s my tactic: look up something sweet and ideal as a snack, and try to figure out a way to make it more healthy – and that’s why I love this recipe for a sort-of-apple-crumble! It’s definitely delicious, but I don’t have to feel guilty for eating it!
Ingredients (for 1 portion)

-1/2 apple
-pinch of cinnamon
-1 teaspoon of olive oil
-1 tablespoon of water
-3 tablespoons of oats
-1 teaspoon of sugar (or sweetener)
-2 tablespoons of greek yogurt
-2 teaspoons of lemon juice
-1 teaspoon of honey
This desert is made up of 3 parts, and we’re going to start out with the apple-bit!
First, you want to cut the apple into small cubes, and heat up a pan with the teaspoon of olive oil in there on a stove on high heat. Once the olive oil is heated up, throw in the apple and the pinch of cinnamon.
Stir the apple and, once it starts to look golden, add the water – once the water has completely evaporated, pour the apple into a small bowl, and let it cool.
Leave the pan on the stove, and add in the oatmeal, as well as the sugar or sweetener. Stir until the oats start to release a toasted smell (about 3 minutes, usually) and pour the oatmeal into a separate bowl, leave this to cool as well.
Finally, take the greek yogurt, lemon juice and honey, and mix them all together until they get a smooth, glossy texture.
Now, all that’s left to do is just put it all together: with the oats still on the bottom of your bowl, add on top of them first the apples, and then the yogurt-mixture.
You can either eat this immediately, or put it in the fridge and eat it when very cold – I usually make a couple of portions at the same time (it’s no extra work, but a lot more food!) and eat the first while it’s still warm – it’s definitely delicious both ways, though!
Try to get a bite of everything in each bite, and enjoy the yummy-ness – without any guilt!
