Monthly Updates #1: February Music

So here’s a new thing I’ve decided to start doing: Monthly Updates!
Every Saturday I’m going to post of 5 things that are keeping me busy: the first Saturday of every month is books, next comes music, then food and what I’m watching to conclude the month – any fifth Saturday that comes up is a bonus round!

So let’s get started with this week: what music have I been listening to this past month?

1. Birds, Anouk

So the 2016 Eurovision Song Contest is coming up (fine, it’s like 3 more months, but that’s basically coming up, right?) and that means I have to look back on the songs I most liked – mainly, that’s just the music from the 90’s and before, but these past couple of years there have been some stand out-moments, and this one definitely was one for me!

2. A Million Voices, Polina Gagarina

Okay, so maybe I’ve been listening to quite a lot of Eurovision Song Contest music – but let’s face it: Russia’s entry from last year was brilliant – ‘nuf said.

3. Nightingale, Demi Lovato

It was a real toss-up between this song and In Case – I basically love the whole album, but these two are probably my favourites, so I keep coming back to them. What more can I say, really, I mean, it’s a Disney star who actually overcame the whole “troubled transformation”, can sing, and is just pretty inspirational all around!

4. God Help The Outcasts, Esmeralda, The Hunchback of the Notre Dame

So this is the French version of this song – why, you might be wondering? Because, for one of my French courses I’m supposed to do “activities in French” (could they get any more vague than that?), and one of the things I’ve been doing is listening to French versions of Disney songs which I already know / love  – as it turns out, there are quite some where I’ve actually started to prefer the French version to the original… Oops?

5. Human, Christina Perri

So apparently I’ve mainly been listening to amazing songs by women this past month? Whether that is the case or not, though, I’ve loved this song since I first heard it and it somehow made me love Christina Perri even more (and I really didn’t think that was going to be possible after One Thousand Years, but oh well) and I love coming back to this song time and time again!

Bonus Track: Oh America, Celtic Woman

Because I wrote this list yesterday morning, then listened to this song an hour later, and have now heard it 24 times in the same amount of hours! (and because I love Celtic Woman, obvs!)

So there you have it – 5 (or well, 6) of my favourite songs of the past month! What have you been listening to lately? Be sure to let me know below!
